William Morris Larkspur Wallpaper

Originally created by William Morris in 1872, the Larkspur pattern is widely regarded as one of his most charming and enduring designs. This intricate wallpaper features a dense, rhythmic composition of delicate flowers and spiralling leaves that dance across a background of dainty dots. The layering of foliage creates a sense of "satisfying mystery" that Morris often strove for, designed to mask the repeat and draw the eye into its organic depth.

While it began as a simple monochrome print, Morris revised the design in 1875 to incorporate twelve separate woodblocks, resulting in a pattern of incredible richness and detail. This complexity allows Larkspur to blend seamlessly into both traditional and modern interiors, offering a touch of historic elegance without overwhelming a space. Its captivating symmetry and flowing stems make it an ideal choice for creating a serene, botanical-inspired retreat in bedrooms or living areas.
