About
Bobbi Beck was founded in 2021 during lockdown by James Mellan-Matulewicz, his wife Rebecca and their friend Jason.
All three founders had spent many years working within the interiors and wallpaper industry and shared the same frustration. While there were many beautiful wallpaper brands in the luxury market, they were often difficult to buy from. Prices were hidden behind trade accounts, online purchasing was limited, and the overall experience felt unnecessarily closed off.
James explained: “We believed it was possible to offer a genuinely luxury product and service while making it easier to access. For us, luxury isn’t about barriers or exclusivity for its own sake. It’s about being uncompromising on materials, print quality and care and offering that same level of service whether someone is ordering a single roll or specifying wallpaper at scale.
From the outset, we made the decision to invest in our own design and print studio before making a single sale. It was a significant upfront commitment, but it allowed us to control quality, production and customer experience from day one. That decision continues to shape everything we do.”

A design and print studio, not just a shop
“We are a design and print studio specialising exclusively in luxury wallpaper.
Our small, dedicated in-house team designs and manufactures the product, while also running customer support, marketing, finance and the day-to-day administration of the business. Keeping this work in-house allows us to stay close to the product and provide a more personal, responsive service.
A typical week involves fulfilling orders while simultaneously developing new designs, testing materials and refining colour palettes. There is always work in progress, and almost everything happens under one roof.”
Designing with experience
“Our design process is intentionally broad. We don’t limit ourselves to a single house style, as we believe wallpaper should offer variety and flexibility to suit different spaces and tastes. Some designs begin with paint, pens or pencils, while others are created digitally from the outset. Inspiration can come from anywhere.”
Product development is led by James Mellan-Matulewicz, who has over 15 years’ experience as a multidisciplinary designer, alongside senior roles in brand direction, creative leadership and interior styling. He continued: “Because our designs are produced in-house and made to order, they can continue to evolve. If something can be improved, it is.
Being made to order also allows us to be bolder. Designs are given the opportunity to find their audience without the pressure of clearing stock or generating waste.”

Made to order, intentionally
“Every wallpaper we produce is made to order. Once an order is placed, it enters our production queue. When scheduled, it is printed on our high-spec digital printers, finished using specialist cutting equipment, carefully quality checked, hand-rolled and packaged before being dispatched with the courier.
Once an order leaves our studio, it is typically with the customer within 2–4 working days, even for international deliveries. While production adds a short lead time compared to picking from stock, most customers receive their wallpaper in under a week and understand that they are ordering something produced specifically for them.”

Materials and print quality
“We are meticulous about print definition, colour accuracy and consistency. Our team continuously tests materials to ensure our paper stocks meet the standards we expect. We offer a range of paper types, including non-wovens, metallics and luxury vinyls, each chosen for its finish, durability and suitability for different environments.
Every option we offer is significantly higher quality than what is typically found on the high street or in DIY stores. We also provide guidance and samples to help customers choose the most appropriate paper for their project with confidence."

Our approach to sustainability
“For us, sustainability starts with making less. Reduce, reuse and recycle are often grouped together, but reduction comes first. Our made-to-order model means we only ever produce what has been purchased, and with a return rate of under 1%, we generate almost no waste and never send surplus stock to landfill.
Our wallpapers are designed to last, supporting slow consumption rather than fast turnover. Alongside this, we use the most sustainable wallcovering materials available to us, print with Greenguard Gold certified inks, offset logistics emissions with UPS, and support ecological projects worldwide through our partner Ecologi to remain carbon neutral.
We are careful not to overstate claims. Sustainability is an ongoing process, and we continue to improve wherever possible.”
A real studio, real people
“Our studio brings design and print together in a single space. Alongside specialist digital printers and finishing equipment, you’ll find colour tests, samples and designs in active development. There is always work being refined, iterated or improved, with products regularly coming straight off the printers mid-process. There is a real, operational studio behind every order, not a dropshipped product or a disconnected supply chain.”
Recognised and specified worldwide
“Our work has been featured extensively across the interiors press in the UK and internationally, including Living Etc, Homes & Gardens, Ideal Home, House Beautiful, The Guardian, The Independent, The Sunday Times, Stylist, the BBC, Vanity Fair and many more.
We support homeowners, interior designers, architects and large-scale commercial projects, offering the same level of care and attention regardless of scale. We aim to provide the level of service customers expect from an independent luxury brand.”

What we stand for
“We refuse to compromise on quality where it makes a material difference to our product or service. Our focus is on remaining a design and print studio dedicated to wallpaper, and on becoming a well-known and respected luxury brand within that space. With the right context, we believe any design can work. Our role is to help people find the one that works for them.”
